The Association of St. Benedict Patron of Europe (ASBPE) was founded in 1967 and canonically recognized as a private international association of the
faithful in 1988.
Its members “dedicate themselves to the reading of the Holy Scriptures in order to shape their life and prayer according to the guidance of the Gospel; they thus become witnesses of Christ.”
They recognize in the Benedictine Rule “a wonderfully balanced organization of the common life, both in the spiritual and temporal order, able to direct people towards God and to ensure peace in society. For this reason, the Church regards the Rule as a model for human society.”
